BIOGRAPHY I am a true Wyoming native having grown
up on a farm south of Torrington, Wyoming. My mother taught me to
embroider when I was very young (about 7 years old) so I’ve grown up with a
needle in hand. Quilting became a passion several years ago after taking
my first quilt class. I was hooked!!! My quilt class teaching began in about
2000 when I was asked to teach a class in Rock Springs, Wyoming. Now I
teach regularly at QuiltEssentials in
Laramie, Great American Quilt Factory in Denver, and High Prairie Quilts in Parker, Co. I have also taught for quilt
guilds in Burlington, Evergreen and Steamboat Springs, Colorado. I have taught
classes at “Quilting on the Green” in Green River, Wyoming for several years and
was the featured speaker for the event in 2005. My teaching also has taken me
to the QuiltWyoming and QuiltNebraska conferences. In February 2006 I taught
classes in Sevierville, Jonesborough, and Harriman, Tennessee. I also
taught at QuiltFest in Jonesborough, Tennessee in July 2007 and have been
invited to teach there again in 2009. One of my quilts, Oriental Spiral,
is in the QuiltArts 2009 calendar published by American Quilter's Society. The process of making a quilt is very
intriguing to me. I enjoy seeing the fabrics and pattern I have chosen being
transformed into something beautiful. Sometimes the outcome isn’t exactly what
was planned but my quilts are all extensions of me. Quilting is very relaxing.
I love to make traditional as well as contemporary quilts. My husband and I are
both retired so I have more time for my quilting. Emily Kay, our first grandchild, was
born on November 2, 2004. She truly is an answer to prayer and a blessing.
Emily Kay lives with her parents in Littleton, Colorado and our son and his wife
live in Virginia Beach, Virginia where he is an Intelligence Analyst for the
Coast Guard. God truly has blessed my life!
