I am truly a Wyoming native having grown up on a farm south of Torrington, Wyoming.  My mother taught me to embroider when I was very young (about 7 years old) so I’ve grown up with a needle in hand.  I’m married and we’re both retired from the University of Wyoming.   We have two grown children and are grandparents to a beautiful granddaughter, Emily.

Quilting became a passion about 20 years ago after I took a pleated pineapple class.  I was hooked!!!  Like most quilters, I tried several techniques on my own and tried to perfect some of my skills with classes.  Then I became acquainted with the International Quilt Festival in Houston, Texas and had the opportunity to take classes from well known national teachers.  What fun!!

I’ve been teaching quilt classes and offering trunk shows for several years.  The process of making a quilt is very intriguing.  I enjoy seeing the fabrics and the pattern I have chosen being transformed into something beautiful.  Sometimes the outcome isn’t exactly what was planned but my quilts are all extensions of me.  Quilting is very relaxing.  I really like to do all types of quilting but I must say that pieced traditional quilts are still my favorites.  I really enjoy hand quilting and needle turn applique when I have time.

My husband teases me because when you lift the top quilt on my spare beds, there are usually 2 to 3 more quilts underneath the top one (I find that’s a great way to store quilts).  The most memorable projects are those made for specific individuals.  I love to give my quilts to people who appreciate them and treat them with kindness.
